This two day course is recommended for coffee professionals who are interested in increasing their skills and understanding of the craft and science of brewing coffee.
In our interactive online course sessions, we’ll discuss how varying the essential elements of brewing impact the sensory characteristics, solubles concentration, and solubles yield of the finished cup. We’ll also introduce recommended brewed coffee analysis techniques and tools.
In our hands-on brewing sessions we’ll use a range of brewing devices to prepare coffee while varying the essential elements of brewing, critically taste the results, then measure and analyze strength and extraction in order to optimize and troubleshoot a brew.
This course builds on the skills and knowledge introduced in Coffee Brewing Foundation, so successful completion of that course or an approved equivalent is required prior to attending.
Successful completion of this course, including practical and online written exams qualifies the learner for the Specialty Coffee Association’s Brewing Intermediate certificate.
